Loose Amaryllis & Austere Winter

This professionally recorded DVD contains three chapters: the first shows the materials you need and slowly demonstrates vital techniques. The second teaches you how to paint Loose Amaryllis. The third teaches the painting Austere Winter. Go at your own pace as, step-by-step, you paint these two beautiful paintings utilizing a variety of techniques, both loose and tight. ​ The class will be a series of five meetings starting May 6 on five consecutive Wednesday mornings through June 3 from 9:00 to noon.
​
Using techniques such as wet on wet, flowing washes, blowing methods, and texture tricks, learn to paint seven or more unique watercolor greeting cards featuring loose, expressive floral designs. Allow watercolors to move freely and unpredictably while still forming recognizable floral compositions. You can frame these little paintings or duplicate them to send as cards. Here you can see a few samples.

The Whimsical Animals Greeting Card Class features seven delightful cards offering a variety of watercolor techniques and a bit of mixed media (for free I will provide any materials that are outside the traditional watercolor ones). You'll also get a list of suggestions for captions to include on your cards that relate to the paintings we will do of cats, giraffes, dogs, raccoons, birds, fish, and rabbits,. These cards are suitable for mailing, or duplicating, or framing. See two samples pictured.

Collage Open Studio

This unique class is open studio, which means that I will not be teaching any particular styles or designs. The choice is up to you, and I will provide as much or as little support as you want. I will provide a huge supply of collage papers, glues, Posca acrylic pensm watercolors, and substrates at no additonal cost, and you can also bring some of your own. Here you can see one sample.

Collage with Images

This type of collage is a little more challenging. On paper 9" X 12," we'll make a focal area using collage images such as animals, still life objects, or people. Then, we'll develop the design to support the image. This class emphasizes composition and color theory as each of us creates an original painting. It can be framed or reduced to make greeting cards. At no extra cost, I will provide all the materials. Here you can see one sample.

Koi

I will give you drawings of koi fish to transfer so that you can create your own composition. Then step by step, I will teach you how to create transparent, harmonious layers to suggest water and lily pads. This painting embraces all the best qualities of watercolors. Paint for a 16" X 20" frame; or, if you are experienced, paint for an 18" X 24" frame. Here you can see one sample.
